Somizi – The Idols Judge

Somizi quickly rose to become the choice celebrity guest amongst Idols viewers when he mentored the Top 6 for the Idols SA Season 10 “Showstoppers” episode back in 2014. In 2015 he officially joined the hit South Africa reality show, as the show entered its eleventh season. He returned in the follow-up season of the show, which currently airs every sunday at 17:30 on Mzansi Magic.

 

Somizi joined Idols SA as the fourth judge. He views his role on the show as identifying contestants’ “razzmatazz” quotient. He has previously stated, “Contestants are warned! From now on, a good voice alone isn’t enough anymore – I’m going to want contestants who have showmanship!”.

In May, viewers were invited to the flamboyant, world of Somizi Mhlongo who’s on a constant quest to live his life to the fullest. We were all treated to a glimpse of the high points and low moments that make this talented entertainer and businessman tick. Behind all the glamour and glitz, the show revealed that the showman’s reality is never short of excitement and drama. Viewers had front row seats to the multi-layered character who rarely bites his tongue. Living the Dream With Somizi aired on Mzansi Magic (DStv Channel 161), from May 12th to June 30th.

The South African entertainer, Somizi recently added radio host to his glittering Résumé. He made the announcement on his Twitter and Instagram account at the end of May. You can now catch him doing what he does best, entertain, on Metro FM, on weekdays – from 8:00-to-12:00. He hosts the show, Who’s show is it anyway alongside Khanyi Mbau and Ntombi Ngcobo.

 

The show providing a morning fix for listeners who have just arrived at work, home, school, out and about or simply radio lovers who enjoy good music, fun content and still want to be in touch with current affairs in the country and around the world.

The show is your the perfect companion – whether you are stuck in traffic or looking to find out more about what’s happening in the world and the show biz sphere. The well-versed Ntombi is bringing her extensive insight on music to the table, while Khanyi and Somizi deliver wittiness and saucy comments that give the show an upper hand above the rest.
